One of the key strategic initiatives of BCI is to support Irish centres of excellence so that we can deliver world-class research, improve patient care and deliver greater long-term development of research infrastructure.

The BCI Research Centre is located within the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin, and has 14 full-time scientists, researchers and postgraduate medical students employed. The Centre provides a world-class research environment with access to cutting-edge facilities and practices the very best in ‘bench-to-bedside’ translational research with high impact international publications.

The Centre focuses on determining why some patients will develop a resistance to current therapies. Through this work, the team is working to identify gene mutations that act as biomarkers to help improve patient treatment strategies and ultimately develop novel drug targets.
