Breast Cancer Ireland Postpones Gala Fundraiser

It is with regret that, following consultation with its medical advisors, Breast Cancer Ireland has decided to postpone its annual gala fundraiser, Battle of the Stars. In the context of the evolving circumstances around Covid-19 virus and the charity’s duty of care to several of its patient ambassadors participating – and in respect of those attending on the night, who might be at a higher risk and at various stages of breast cancer treatment – the decision was made to postpone the event from Saturday, April 4 to Saturday, September 12.

All participants, including Newstalk and Virgin Media presenter Clare McKenna, broadcaster and journalist Lorraine Keane, fashion broadcaster Michele McGrath, FM104 broadcaster Sean Munsanje, influencer Niamh Cullen, TV presenter and writer James Kavanagh, former international rugby referee, Alan Lewis, TV Presenter and performer Paul Ryder and former West End performer and dancer Simon Murphy – as well as participating breast cancer survivors and supporters – have confirmed their availability to perform on the rescheduled September date.

Sponsors and guests (and there over 450 to date) have expressed their commitment to continue their support of this annual event, now in its seventh year, for the new date. Rehearsals continue this week and will recommence again mid-August in the lead up to the September event.

Those who have already purchased tickets for the postponed date have been offered tickets for the rescheduled date or a full refund.
