Understanding RNA methylation in advanced breast cancer

Adrian Lee is a post-graduate student whose work focuses on understanding how breast cancer cells adapt when they metastasise to the brain, to improve treatment strategies. In particular, Adrian is investigating a relatively new area of cancer biology, RNA methylation, a chemical modification that can influence gene stabilisation. While changes to DNA and proteins in cancer have been extensively studied, RNA modifications are a much newer and rapidly developing field of research.
