Investigating DNA repair mechanisms as a clinical vulnerability in TNBC breast cancer

Jason McGrath is a postdoctoral cancer researcher in the Breast Cancer group, and his work focuses on understanding why some breast cancers become difficult to treat, particularly when they spread to the brain. Jason employs patient tumour samples and complex laboratory models to identify vulnerabilities in the metastatic cancer that can be exploited for clinical benefit.

A major focus of his work is to determine the significance of DNA repair mechanisms in brain metastasis. Ultimately this work will enable us to ascertain the potential of treating brain metastasis with DNA repair deficiencies with PARP inhibitors.
