Following the Government’s announcements earlier this week and most importantly our duty of care to those most vulnerable in our community, it is with a heavy heart that we must confirm that the Great Pink Run will not be taking place in its physical format this October in Dublin, Kilkenny and Chicago.

While we are obviously devastated, the health and safety of our breast cancer community and their families and friends is paramount. We were so looking forward to, once again gathering as a community, as we have done for the past 10 years, but sadly it is not to be.

Last year, over 10,000 people took part across three cities and we raised over €600,000 to support our ongoing and pioneering research – supporting research into metastatic disease – to find newer and targeted therapies to keep patients alive.

However all is not lost,  we are working really hard on developing a fabulous VIRTUAL GREAT PINK RUN  which will begin on Saturday  10th October to run through Saturday 17th October (the date of our original Dublin run) where we will give everyone the opportunity to take part, respecting social distancing, of course,  in either the 5k – Run Jog or Walk …or the 10k challenge.

We really want to celebrate 10 YEARS OF THE GREAT PINK RUN and spotlight on the amazing advancements that have been made and celebrate the fabulous women and men and children who have taken part over all these years.

There will be newer treatments and with YOUR help and support we will continue to play our part, along with the research teams and clinicians, in finding these treatments for Irish women diagnosed with breast cancer.

We have important work to do.

Watch this space for details over the coming weeks and please continue to stay safe and well at home with your lovely families and friends.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the frontline workers currently giving their all to keep us safe.
Stay safe …….. and we WILL come together again.
