The date for the 2016 Great Pink Run with Avonmore Slimline Milk is Saturday 27th August in the Phoenix Park.

The event starts and finishes at the junction of Furze Road/Chesterfield Ave.

The 10KM event starts at 10h00 & the 5KM event starts at 10h40.

Do I need to raise some sponsorship for Breast Cancer Ireland?
We are asking all participants to raise a minimum of €20 to support our pioneering research efforts. We are encouraging people to fundraise online this year with a Just Giving page –

Where can I park?
There is limited parking in Phoenix Park and surrounding areas so if you can walk, cycle or take public transport it would be appreciated. Please refer to 
How To Get There section of the website for event location.

What is the registration process?
You must register online to obtain your place in the race. Online registration closes on Monday 15th August 2016 at MIDNIGHT. There will be no registration after this date or on race day. 

How do I register an U10 participant?
When you register yourself, you will be given the option to register U10′s for FREE. The U10 will not be given a bib number but will receive a medal at the finish


Will I need to collect my race number and timing chip in advance?

No – Your entry includes €2 for posting out your race number with timing chip attached in advance. You are responsible for providing an accurate postal address at online registration stage in order for your race number to be delivered in advance of the event.

Race numbers will be posted out late w/e 21/8/16. If you have not received your number by Wednesday 24th August, at the address provided when you registered, then e-mail us at greatpinkrun@gmail.com – Please do not e-mail us prior to that date thanks

There is no race number collection on race day due to the large numbers involved in this event.

When and where do I get my T shirt?
T shirts, if pre-paid at registration stage, will be available for collection on Race Day in the Phoenix Park. Everyone entered before the 7th August will receive a personalised race number with first name on it.
Your race pack with your Race Number and Timing Chip will be posted out to you w/e 21/8/16. Anyone who purchases a T Shirt can collect the T shirt on the morning of the event from 08h30.

You must have your Race Number with you to claim your Tee-shirt if you paid for one at registration stage

What do the T-Shirts look like?

These tech tees are gender specific cut so please allow for this in your ordering – Ladies cut is quite tight fitting and men’s is more casual fitting

Can I buy a T shirt on the day?

Some tee – shirts may be available on the day for €10 (Cash only) but sizes and stocks are likely to be limited so definitely best to order online in advance to be sure of your correct size . Our tees are a technical tee and will be supplied in both men’s and close fitting women’s styles. Ladies please order as per your normal size or a size bigger as they are very snug fitting – No need to allow for “unisex” tee shirt sizing in this event

Will there be a place to leave my bag?
Yes – Key / bag (Max 10l i.e. Small Bag) drop will be available should you chose to use it. Stickers will be provided at the bag drop and you should put your race number and label onto you bag before you present it at key / bag drop area. To collect your keys / bag after the race you will need your bib number so that we can easily identify you.

Will there be on course “loo” facilities?
Yes we will have portaloo facilities available at the assembly point and a very limited number at approximately 2km & 4km into the 5km lap

What do I do with my sponsorship monies?

Race Start: The 10km will start promptly at 10.00 The 5k will commence at 10.40. The Great Pink Run is all about including everyone and having fun as well as raising much needed funds for this worthwhile charity. As it is also a race, there will be 3 different speed categories and we are likely to do several wave starts to spread out the field but all will receive an accurate chip time from when they cross the starting line until they cross the finish line:

1. Competitive Runner (Typically less than 5 mins / km)

2. Running for Fun (Typically 5 – 7 mins / km) -This is the main section for all shapes and forms of runner

3. Joggers & walkers (Typically 8+mins / km) – This is for those wishing to take their time. Those participating with children/ scooters / strollers are requested to please start the race at the very back of the 5km field and keep children under your control. All Participants must wear race numbers ( which already have timing chips embedded) on their Front and on outer clothing in order to receive an accurate chip time.

Will water be provided on the course? We will have a water station at the 5k mark for those running the 10k and after the finish line for all participants. It is advisable for all runners to either bring water themselves or make sure they are well hydrated in advance. Please dispose of any bottles you may carry on the course at the main event HQ area only to avoid littering along the route through the park. Water will be available for all participants after the race finish 

Who can participate? We want men, women and children participating in this day. Everyone knows someone that has been affected by Breast Cancer. Use this event to come out and support them. Investment in research is critical in making a difference. Help us in our race for a cure.

Is there a different registration fee for children? Yes the entrance fee for children under 18 years of age is €15 and children under 10 years can participate in the 5km Strollers / walking section for FREE. Note entry for U10′s is free and they will receive a medal at the finish line. U10’s will not, however, receive a bib number or timing chip.

Can I change from 10km to 5km or 5km to 10km? Yes but only up until 10th August at 5pm. You can go back onto the Event Master site and manage your booking using your reference number or send a text to info@greatpinkrun.ie

Can I register using a Laser card? Yes – You can register only up until midnight on Monday 15th August 2016

No entries will be available after midnight on 15th Aug 2016 There is no additional booking charge for this event.

How much is it to register?  We have differing entry charges depending on date registered. All entry charges include €2 for package & postal of Race Number & Timing Chip

Will there be group discounts available? Yes – If you have a group of 5 or more to enter at one time then you will automatically get a 10% discount.

Group discounts will be applied to total entry amount at checkout stage before you pay

How will I be timed? You will be given timing chips as part of your Event Pack which are embedded in your race number. There will be electronic timing mats at the start/finish line which you will run over. These mats will record your start/finish time accurately. Race numbers must be uncovered on your front to ensure your time is correctly recorded. Preliminary race results will be published on the event website on evening of race we hope

Will there be prizes? Prizes will be given to : – First 3 overall and first over U- 18 (M/F) in both races and of course there will be special prizes for “Best Dressed in Pink” (M/F) Prizes will be posted out once race results are finalised by our timing partner the week after the event

Do I have to wear pink? You should try to wear at least one Pink item for the race. It can be anything you like but we encourage everyone to pink it up as much as possible! I don’t have pink clothes? Don’t worry, you can purchase the Official Great Pink Run Technical T Shirt when you register for only €10 These are gender specific styled and sized – ladies sizes are quite snug fitting

I have never completed a 5k before? Don’t worry. You can do it at whatever pace you choose. Participation in the event is what counts

What happens afterwards? After each Run is completed, participants will receive a medal marking the occasion

What is the minimum age? There is no minimum age – We are encouraging all the family to participate. If you have a baby, push him/her in the buggy! There is no time limit to the race so we encourage you to participate with your little ones in what could be their first sports event but please go in the 5km event and start at the back of the main field!

Are all proceeds going to BCI? Yes all of the proceeds from the race will be going to BCI. All costs associated with this event have been kindly covered by the Sponsors on board. We would encourage everyone participating to try to raise an additional €20.00- 25.00 via our sponsorship card because every little bit helps hugely in our Race for A Cure . Can I get a refund on my entry? Sorry but there are no refunds available once you have entered online as this is a charity event.
