Organising an event – we’re here to assist
Step 1: Get organising!
Start by deciding on your event. Whether the event idea is big or small, at home, work, school or in your community, it’s your call. Make it something fun that you would want to take part in yourself. Depending on the size of the event, you may want to form an organising committee to share the workload.
Step 2: Register your event with us
Tell us about your plans by filling out an event proposal form so that we can provide you with the best support possible.
Step 3: Make your event happen
Once your event has been approved by us, it’s time to start working on the details. Finalise the date/time and (if applicable) book your venue.
Budget Work out how much your event is likely to cost (don’t forget to ask for goods and services to be donated – you’ll be amazed how many people really want to help out) and how much you think you can realistically raise.
Timeline Work out a timeline for your event. List all the jobs and tasks (such as publicity or insurance) you need to get done and when they need to be done by (advice: do not set deadlines for the day before the event!). Share the jobs among all the committee/event members, and ensure people know what they have to do and when they have to do it by.
Legal stuff The Charities Institute of Ireland has created some great toolkits on Garda permits and insurance. Please check out the legal requirements for your event. For example, do you need a Garda permit? Should you get event insurance?
Step 4: Lodge your funds raised
Once your event has finished, you can submit funds raised with your debit or credit card online or by phone, by sending a cheque through the post, or by lodging your funds directly into our bank account. It’s that simple – so get organising!
