After a 5 day trek that took them through one of the most scenic routes, Machame, Tanzania, Karol and John made their ascent to the summit (5895m) at 5.10 am on 14 December last. Karol said "it took us a day and half to descend and the night we summited was definitely the hardest part of the climb as the altitude made our progress extremely slow and arduous. It took almost 6 hours to reach the top. We saw a brilliant sunrise above the clouds of Africa shortly after we reached the top."
