Leopardstown Inn - Pink Themed Event post Golf Classic
€12,000 raised for Breast Cancer Research
Saturday 4 April 2009
On Saturday 4 April, Over 150 guests, gathered in the Carousel Room at the Leopardstown Inn for the Golf Classic Prize Giving and Pink Themed party organised by Derek Ennis, General Manager. Paul Gallagher's wife Marie, lost her battle with Breast Cancer over 18 months ago and in recognition of the family, who have a close association with the owners and staff of the Leopardstown Inn, they decided to host a Golf Classic with the proceeds going towards Breast Cancer Ireland. A superb raffle was organised on the night with items such as a signed Irish Rugby Shirt by the winners of the Grand Slam; a signed Padraig Harrington Shirt; signed Dublin Shirt, wine, gift vouchers and many many more fantastic prizes.
Professor Arnold Hill, Professor of Surgery at RCSI and Director of Breast Cancer Ireland thanked everyone in attendance for their support and more importantly for the drive, commitment and generosity of the Leopardstown Inn in hosting such a fantastic event. He stressed the importance of events like this, in not only raising such necessary and vital funding, but also in helping to raise our profile and highlight the research we are undertaking, in our race to bring this often fatal disease to a more manageable illness.
Topping the evenings celebrations, Derek Ennis presented Paul Gallagher and his daughters with the "Marie Gallagher Perpetual Golf Trophy" signalling the beginning of what is now to become an annual Leopardstown Inn event
